The 2011 WDSF World DanceSport Championship Standard was a sensation and was held under the annual Glory To Russia (Славы России) DanceSport event at the Crocus Expo Centre in Moscow, last Saturday, October 29, 2011.

The Glory To Russia tournament was a six-day competition that was filled with spectators and dancers with ages ranging from kids to seniors. This is considered one of the many competitions in Moscow that the whole family can enjoy together, whether competing or just watching.

By the time the Quarter Finals and the Semi Finals and came around in the WDSF World Standard competition, you could see banners held by loyal fans with their favorite dancer written on the material, big enough to see from the other end of the auditorium. And the advertisements that were placated on the partition that went around the dance floor was similar to more popular sporting events like football and baseball.

That said, it seems that Dancesport is becoming a household name around the world and getting more popular by the month. And some Dancesport organizations are helping proliferate this sport exponentially with their high-tech savvy.

For example, the World DanceSport Federation (WDSF) stated just today that, ”The 2011 World Championship Standard will go down as the best exposed and most widely watched DanceSport event to date.”

The WDSF did a marvelous job reporting this years WDSF World Standard competition. Along with their new state-of-the-art website that debut this year, they started reporting on some of their bigger competitions, which keeps us fans informed with up-to-the-minute coverage of entire competitions. It is not exactly live ,but it is the next best thing; and you can be assured that it is credible reporting.

Heidi Goetz , from the WDSF Communication Team interviewed Peep Vardja, one of the Judges from Estonia, regarding the first two rounds and posted it on YouTube. Heidi’s first question was, “We would like to talk to you about the first two rounds of the World Championship Standard,” and your impression of the couple’s level of dancing? Peep Vardja answered that he, “Actually enjoyed it very much, and in my opinion, the level of dancing, compared to previous years, has grown a lot.”
